6th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2015 Hatch-A-Long

Going to candle tonight. Then, set them where I want them after penciling. They will pretty much be in lock down, but I do open the bator off and on during day 18 to get that humidity right. Really excited for the small sizzle eggs..all that I had shipped to me are viable..there are 8. Lock down is a scary time for those little eggs, I will be watching that humidity like a hawk!
Speaking of hawks, heard one out there screeching this morning, and my girls are out and about on the paths through the snow that my DH shoveled for them and the dogs. Got my Golden R. out there to roam around for a while. I hear this bird screeching often, not sure if it is a small hawk...coopers..or a falcon. It sounds small. I may have to keep my hens in the run for a couple of days.

No recipe really. I quartered a young heritage tom, tossed in a small drake
Thank You! Im going to give this a try. What do you typically serve this with? Maybe white rice, bread, and a veggie?
This is the first time I've made it. We're also having boiled red potatoes with butter & basil, corn, greenbean cassarole & baked beans, plus cookies & cake...because this is our Christmas diner.

yeah!!! fingers crossed for 46 beautiful chicks!!

even better, go 47 go!
LOL...now there are 52....

We love to see pictures but the set is not required. Even the pictures of chicks that hatch is only necessary for the hatch rate contest.

Good Hatching.
Oh...really sorry then....

QUick question? Is 80-85 % humidity for lock down to high.
Yes, too high. lowering surface area of water will lower humidity. Use one less water channel and or add popcorn, un-popped to an empty one. Foam incubators will take some time to come down in humidity.

If the humidity is too high, Oxygen in the incubator will go down and the chicks will suffocate. It is a combination of temperature and humidity.
