What breeds do u have?Just started up the hatcher. I like to get it ready a couple days early to make sure the temp and humidity gets to where I want it. I can't believe in less than a week I could have some new babies. I'm eggcited to see what I get this time. Hatching is such an addiction. I think I'm going to have to start selling the chicks though. We have about 40-45 I've hatched since October and we already had 75....... Man I think I have a problem, just put 24 more in the bator today and collecting more for next week. I really need to find some customers.![]()
I wouldn't say "addicted" or "obsessed". I'd just say you have a really big love for chickens. Lollol you might be addicted if your chicken incubation room is bigger then your masterbedroom lol
Is that a wire hanging over the eggs? Won't the chicks peck at it when they hatch. Ik they are usually curious boogers.
Aww. That's terrible. So sorry to hear that.I'm out. My broody let all her eggs freeze last night and one exploded... I guess I will try again for Easter maybe.
Yeah, it is wire, but it never bothers the chicks!!! They havent pecked it and its insualted anyway...there is nowhere else for em to put it...What breeds do u have?

People. Bamadude has become the voice of reason here.
Let that sink in a minute.
Good Morning!
I have a question for @ronott1
and/or anyone else who hatches in cartons: How do you address "wrong end" pips since the bottom half of the egg isn't visable? I'm worried about not seeing one and therefore not being able to time the progression in case assistance is needed. Do you just take completely hands off approach and not worry about it? Thanks!
Blaming "Auto correct"! LOLStupid auto correct...better half
Watch temperature spikes for sure. It is great that your Daughter is catching the hatching bug!I won't be able to catch up completely from where I left off pre-Xmas.
So merry Xmas, congratulations and all the other greetings (or condolences) that may apply to you all![]()
I hope everyone is well and happy?
It seems my daughter has caught the bug. She asked me the other day if she could incubate and hatch some chicks too.
Candled last night, saw 12 happy wriggling little peeps in the eggs, which were put in lockdown alongside a questionable egg while a couple stinkers and quitters were pulled out.
Happy with my 12/maybe 13 that have made it through to lockdown... Much better than my last shipped lot of eggs. Let's just hope they make it through to hatching![]()
We have a reeeeaaaally hot day predicted for tomorrow, so I have everything crossed that the incubator will behave and I can keep it cool enough.
I lost the last lot to temperature spikes and don't want to experience that again...... Of all the days that had to finally feel like our usual summers, it HAD to be during lockdown didn't it!?
Murphey can shove his law you-know-where...
my child saw an egg move. I missed it but peeps are sure to follow soon.
