6th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2015 Hatch-A-Long

We locked down 20 of our original 39. Most that didn't make it to lockdown was because they weren't fertile. A few quit though. Pulled out 2 right before I set up for lockdown. Everyone else still had nice veins and good movement even though those eggs are getting full! This will be my biggest incubator hatch ever

Ate they chickens or Pea Hens? Remember, it did not happen unless we see a picture....

In the bator are 1 pea egg that I set several days ago, 1 pigeon egg, two chicken eggs, one chick that hatched yesterday, one chick that the keets tried to kill. Here they are.

They are so cute!

Thanks for the pictures.

What breeds do u have?
I wouldn't say "addicted" or "obsessed". I'd just say you have a really big love for chickens. Lol
Is that a wire hanging over the eggs? Won't the chicks peck at it when they hatch. Ik they are usually curious boogers.
Aww. That's terrible. So sorry to hear that.

I have several different breeds, such as cochin, silkie, wyandotte, white leg horns and black sex-links. My cochin is not laying right now but I did get several eggs out of her before she stopped and my silkie only lays about every other day so I hold on to those, but for right now I am focusing on the sex links and wyandotts. I want to have some good started pullets by spring when people really start to look for chickens. I am probably also going to be listing them on Craigs list, I'm hoping sex-links will sell good seeing as how you know if you are getting pullets or roos. I got 7 pullets and 3 roos out of my last hatch so I was pretty happy with that. For this hatch a long I have the last 4 eggs my cochin layed and 3 wyandott eggs I'm hoping do good. Getting ready to go candle and lock down now. I also set some more silkie and wyandott eggs for 1/15 hatch and I'm setting 2 dozen more sex links tomorrow.
