7 mo. old hen lethargic with yellow diarrhea

the only thing I can find around here is at farm and ranch and it's called liquid sulaf-nox, which says it's for cocci. i put it in their water according to the poultry measurments. then i noticed that the label says it expired 1-08! grrr! it's all i have, to i guess i have to go with it. does anyone know if it's ok to use anyways? frustrating!

the rest of the chickens seem totally normal, thankfully. but i'm picking up our new batch of day old chicks tomorrow. so i guess i should also put the sulfa-nox in their water too right away? do it use the same amount per gallon for chicks as for adult hens? they will very soon be exposed to the same soil that my older flock of chickens free range in. the label says to treat for 2-3 days, skip 3 days, then give for 2 more days. would this be the same schedule for the chicks? wish I knew more!

thanks in advance for any help!

I wish I could help. The only thing I had was the sulfer stuff the had at tractor supply. I have a friend coming over tonite that is going to look over mine. Works at the vets. I'll see what hes says and let you know. Later, dave27889

Thanks again, dave27889! someone else said that medicated feed is better for the chicks. but i don't have any here and none of the local stores sell it. so if i can use the sulfa-nox... i would rather not travel far and spend more money on medicated feed for the new chicks.

another question. it says not to eat the eggs while being treated for cocci. anyone know how long after treatment is over that we should wait for it to clear their system?
thanks!!!!

Sadly she died shortly after trying to treat her with the expired cocci medicine. I'm pretty sure it was cocci, but alas, I will never know.
