* Update on my hatch: took out 3 quitters last night. After horror stories of eggs gone bad I am sure I can smell something off. So to be safe I took the eggs out I'm sure weren't developing anymore. Down to 10 viable.
** None of the eggs were stinky when I smelled them up close so I'm still not sure what I am smelling. I do have three boys so .....

Pick up each egg and smell it. You can tell which is the bad one usually.

Look for little dots on the egg too.

If I open a incubated duck egg to see what's going on, I'll have two outcomes. Either I'll be a murderer or it will be infertile and I'll be forced to toss all but one.
The one was the inner egg of a soft shell outer egg. It has "something" going on in it.

Heres my eggs I started for the HAL. 18 shipped eggs that just made it in time and my hens eggs. I put mine in so the others wouldn't be lonely. Chicken math at work

Is that just a cut down turner? So that it will fit in the coolerbator?

Got another this morning... its still within 48 hours of the set date/time... i could still set it... hmmm

Ok, I set it, I'm up to 11 eggs. Let's hope I get one more by noon to round out the dozen

Thanks. I have lavender orpington eggs. And a mix of rhode island red hens and easter eggers hens bred with my black lavender cross english orpington roosters. Im breeding my lavenders back to black for a better feather quality! I really hope they hatch!

Yes I did cut it down to fit. The whole thing is a remade styrofoam incubator. Which has worked really well for me. A wafer thermostat which I'm not really pleased with is the only change, this maybe due to its position in bator. Cutting down to fit has also helped in chicken math. What's not shown in picture is the hanging fans that are removable to put eggs in.

I'm in the process of building a hatcher using the incu advance with just one heater. I hope to have it up and running on day 18 which will be the 28th of this month. I,ll keep you posted.

Ummm both
