7th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2016 Hatch-A-Long

ron! We are getting that storm! It did snow some last Friday night, but this one is huge. Is going to snow for two more days after this! It will be tough getting around, here and on the roads, but we need this! We have to shovel a path for our doggies. A Dachshund and a Scnoodle. We need to do something better than tarps, our poor chickies have snow in their run. Open the front door to this. Need to do some shoveling in the front now. It is pretty though..can you see that it's still coming down?

Please explain to me why you are happy and excited about getting a snowstorm?? (I'll admit, that first storm of the year is fun but then it's just )

You can soon--after the submission deadline for the eggs set contest--Dec. 16th because quail eggs are being set today. To all members, if you have not sent me a pm with your set numbers please do so. I am missing a lot of eggs!

My pigeons just started sitting on an egg today so it should hatch on January 1st They have such good timing for laying eggs!

Well....my ducks have struck it rich today! I got a call from my boyfriend at 9:30 to come and see him at work. I went over and they are unloading everything in their walkin fridges before their remodel. The ducks now have lots of greens and melon and other goodies to eat. He gave me a whole box of things for them...of course some of my favorites were in the box too

We are lucky ladies (and a couple drakes...lol)

And I think my Ancona duck eggs are starting to internal pip!! I candled them this morning (day 24) and saw a beak moving in and out of the air cell!! I'm so excited!!!

Now for the kicker- the egg carton was pink!!

Here they are in the bator. Just below the Marans eggs... Definitely brown but 2 are an odd color brown. Supposed to be 4 Cochin eggs... Even says so on the npip paper

Hopefully they will hatch and we'll find out what's in them!

Wow... guess my phone and bamas were on the same stuff last night, lol... so did not see pink either!

Nice!!! We go to the local supermarkets in the morning and ask them for any food that they can not sell. We tell them its for our chickens. We get boxes with lettuce (a bit wilted), peppers, eggplant, apples. It's slightly blemished goods, but the chickens don't care!!
