7th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2016 Hatch-A-Long

I guess I'll start collecting eggs. My FBCMs, Barnevelders, Easter Egger, Brahma and White Rock are laying. Got 4 today
400

Thank you! I just started in June 2015 with chickens and I want to get close to or Breed standards as possible. I don't want any more than 20-25 chickens, so when I have too many (since my hubby is a hatchaholic) they will be quality. I have a FBCM Roo, Wheaten Marans Roo, Cream Legbar Roo & Blue or Black Ameracauna Cockerel (can't tell yet he's 12wks)

By 12 weeks you can definitely tell a blue from a black... blues should have visible lacing... if you have a pic and post it, we can tell you what he is... I had blues and blacks, but now I just have Lav and black split Am's... :)

I will have to take a pic and upload it tomorrow he has black on top but greyish on the bottom, I'm not familiar with the breed since I've been into Marans these past months! I just got him yesterday...her husband didn't want anymore roosters. When my hen started laying blue eggs... I was like oh no have to get a rooster now, so I can have some purebreeds

Sounds like he might be a dark blue, but yeah the pic will confirm that... get a pic of his legs too, please... if his color has been mixed with a color other than blue or black, he's no good for pures... Ameraucanas are strict about not mixing feather colors...
