The $47.00 dollar version is much better.

If you brood more than a couple of times with them, they pay for themselves in energy costs.

Here is a photo of my Bantam Favorelle, she was a sweetheart! Great mom!
That has got to be one of the cutest chicken mama pictures i have ever seen! I love the faverolles and have been hunting down a source for hens for ages. Seems everyone sells out fast with the pullets, and i always lose the egg auctions (until now!). I bet, being a bantam, that she is even cuter than the regular size.

Good post! I had forgotten about looking for one of these. I had sworn off hatching, but got bit by the bug on Friday and bought some eggs. As a side note, i see you have Basque hens. Thats my next dream breed to acquire!

I am going to see if the top row is fertile, the bottom row I am pretty sure...
top row:The extra dark eggs on top are from a Blue isbar/BCM, the white is WCBP, the greens are from Blue isbars
bottom row: 2 olives are blue frizzle, tans are australorp/blue isbar, little blue may be blue isbar/EE

I just swapped a bunch of eggs to hatch and am ready for the surprise! It will be a mixed batch of backyard crosses from 2 different flocks - should be interesting!

Just got the premier brooding plate...the small one. I also got the top. That old heat lamp always scared the bejesus out of me! The electric savings on the plate is a serious bonus!
