7th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2016 Hatch-A-Long

North Carolina ey?  May have to try from that state sometime if I see something I may want to try.
My P.O....knows me. LOL...they see a big box, and call me.

Not sure I want my PO to know me that well. Shipping eggs is a nail biting experience. :barnie

LOL, my post office knows me for a different reason.  We have the WORST POST MAN in the history of postmen.  I live up on a hill.  It's a great post office, just a horrible delivery guy.  There is a T intersection at the bottom of my driveway.  It's a 3 way stop at the exit.  The mailbox is at that intersection.  Our postman, instead of taking boxes up the driveway, leaving them inside our open gate or taking them back to the post office, he leaves them ON TOP OF THE MAILBOX, for all the world to see and/or steal.  After a dozen phone calls, emailed complaints, written complaints, I went in and made an in person complaint.  Now there is a HUGE yellow card in the sorting box for my area that says to hold ALL boxes.  Every once in a while, he still leaves one on top.  When he does, I have to go back and file new complaints.  They recognize me now when I walk in the door.....it's kind of sad, last time I went in to do regular business, as was waiting in line, the manager came out to check if I had another complaint or not.

I'm hoping if this guy gets enough complaints, they will transfer him somewhere else.

Now that is sad.

The PO here isn't any better. They refuse to call until afternoon. The box tells them to call immediately. I told them to call immediately. They didn't.
Now I hatch my own eggs or wait until I see another chicken owner.

I guess my PO doesn't have a chance. They open the lobby at 7 am. If I have eggs or chicks coming, I am there by 7:30 at the pick up door. They are supposed to open the door at 8:30, but I found if you stand there and ring the bell (and if that doesn't work, call them on the phone to tell them you are ringing the bell) they will open up and give me my eggs. BTW, they know me by name. Maybe the reason they let me pick up on Sunday is they don't want me following them home! LOL!

I think I'm going to try making my own this weekend

You've inspired me lol. I've got an extra lamp kit from when I made cookie tin water heaters a couple of weeks ago!
I went through something similar several years ago at my old farm. That postal worker would put everything in a bag and hang it off my flag. If you weren't home they would twist in the wind and break off and fly down the road.

I forgot how many times I complained with that lady. I have a great mail deliverer now. She drives to my back porch and hand delivers them to me. I'm baking her some homemade bread and cookies next week for a holiday thank you.

I'm definitely getting a card with tip for my mail gal now. After hearing all these bad stories it's a miracle that I even received the eggs. :bow

My mid-month chickies are popping out of their shells like popcorn!!

I wasn't expecting these little ones until tomorrow and was at DS's soccer practice. Came home to find three hatched, one nearly out, and one dead in the shell.

So far, out of 15 set 6 have successfully hatched, 1 is currently zipping, and 1 was lost mid-zip for an unknown reason. My humidity has been suffering some major spikes with each chick that hatches. It is currently sitting at 70%, which is a drop from 85%. I have actually had to open it up to vent excess moisture and clear the viewing window. The temp is holding steady at 99*F though. (Yes, all the vents are open.)

Pictures ill come soon, I have been so engrossed in hatching chicks I can't remember where I misplaced my camera or phone. LOL!
