oh my gosh I am so far behind on everything - I am hoping I am still a part of the hatch-a-long, but if not, I will try and do better next year between a dog show mid December, my hatching eggs arriving way later than expected, a crazy few weeks at work, having my internet router break at home, dealing with a nasty stray dog that's been terrorizing my birds, an opossum problem, and a rooster with an abscessed nasal cavity, I can easily say I am ready for December to be over! That being said, I think I finally have my s*&t together and can post about the hatch-a-long!

I received a really fun mix from My Pet Chicken, and set the following eggs (total of 31) in my 2 Brinsea incubators on Tuesday, December 15th.
4 Olive Eggers
9 Carolina Blue Sex Links
5 Black Copper Marans
3 Blue/Black/Splash Marans
4 Lavender Ameraucanas
1 Super Blue Egg Layer
5 Super Chocolate Egg Layers

I was a day late, but candled them last night and only had to remove 9, leaving me with a total of 22 eggs, condensed down to one Brinsea incubator:
2 Olive Eggers
9 Caroline Blue Sex Links
2 Black Copper Marans
2 Blue/Black/Splash Marans
4 Lavender Ameraucanas
3 Super Chocolate Egg Layers

I am super excited for the variety, as well as the great shape the eggs were in upon arrival - I can't wait to see them hatching!

Yum! Do you ever make custard to go with the Apple pie? Good way to use eggs and you can just pour it on!

Here's a picture of my Lavender Rooster is this considered a squirrel tail?
He's just developed this recently

Those look like damaged feathers. Squirrel tail is when the feathers curl backwards.

He looks nice!

Maybe he's brushing up against the siding I'll move roost farther out.
