7th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2016 Hatch-A-Long

When i hear peeping and get no pips for awhile i will pull up a you tube video with chicks chirping, runs about 3 min or so, and set my phone on top of the bator so my eggies can hear all that chirping. Usually doesn't take long for them to get going.

X2!!

good luck to everyone as the hatchings progress, and have a safe and happy new years if I don't get back before then.

Does anyone think Pensmaster should moisten the membrane?
I had to moisten on with Bacitracin my last hatch.....
Don't take my word Pensmaster, let the experts chime in!
I guess it would depend on how many are still in there?
Don't want to shrink wrap any.
Where , oh where is @sallysunshine

Thanks LocalYokel. Marans is now out on his own. One shipped egg is zipping. Funny thing is it had the worst air cell. Saddled really bad. I've removed it from the egg carton due to the direction he was zipping. His feathers also look dry. There was moisture on the Marans egg shell I've upped the humidity due to the dry. They have just started their hatch as I started at 12:00 on the 11th. All is well so far. Wished I could stay home and supervise.

I've read somewhere to keep the eggs close to each other as they feel their egg mates vibes. Gets them going so I'm sure chirping does as well.

I get my daughter to go over to the bator and start "peep, peep, peep"-ing. She is an endless loop and batteries don't need recharging very often. I have also brought eggs over to a local school for the kids to watch them hatch. Imagine a room full of pre-schoolers peep-peeping at once.

That's a good idea! I could recruit my 4 year old for that too lol.
Aww i bet the kids love that! It's so fun going to my daughter's pre k class. They are so cute at that age!!

I got scared out of my mind a moment ago. I heard cheeping. If you missed it, none of my eggs made it. For a second I thought that I had washed a live check down the drain or something. Obviously silly since they were dead by about a week.
