Maybe they are mad at you...lol. I wish we could switch chickens. I DON'T want mine laying right now. It's been cold and I'm addicted to incubating. My pullets are only getting 8 hours of light at the very most...more like 6.5-7 hours. I've stopped the laying pellets, and they won't eat the chick or grower and were wasting it so I took them off of it and am giving them a half/half mixture of red prosso millet and scratch...and some wheat when someone brings me a pail. (I am adding the proper mineral mix with it.) I haven't started giving oyster shells yet. The first girls started laying when they were molting in November; we mixed 4 coops together into one big coop with the guinea fowl so major stress overload I'm sure...and I have too many roosters. I just separated the guineas into my brooder and separated most of the roosters from the hens. They didn't stop laying and now new pullets are coming online and starting to lay...lol. I think some of the eggs I've set have gotten so cold when I've been late at gathering them that the air cells have been damaged because they roll. But they're still developing. So I have two week olds, I've got a bunch hatching out today, some due in two weeks and another carton full of eggs...and no brooder now. Thank goodness I dropped the last carton of eggs and broke most of them.![]()
