no, a different breed but they specified it on the packing slip

That's good to know for future reference. Thank you for responding.

I did just get off the phone with them as I wanted to add 6 chicks to my order making my total order 15 chicks. SO, they said for $1 straw sheet, they will skip the "packing peanuts". Yeah!

Curious, what peanuts did you get?

i cant remember it was years ago, like Nov 2013, they grew up white and red mottled, they werent broilers

Any updates? Here's my feathered kids!
I moved the bigger chicks to a crib brooder. The dec 27 hatches and some nyh.
I believe most are boys, which is why the drastic size difference! I moved my jan 13 hatches with the smallest nyh to make room in my newborn brooder for some chicks I ordered from Ideal.

They look great!

Were the packing peanuts of the same breed(s) you ordered?
McMurray uses red star cockerels for packing peanuts regardless of what you order. They do taste good at about 20 weeks old!

It is great that they let you know they used extras cockerels for warmth in shipping!

Helps with confusion as to what you have.

also nice to know that you are saving some from imminent death in the garbage pile

Great looking photos JacksFarmNGarden! What breed are they?

@Eggscoozme - what chicks did you order?

The only chicks I've ever ordered were silkies and I ordered 16 and they sent me 25. All the rest of the live chicks I've gotten have been from feed stores where there is a minimum between 4 and 6.

For NY, I hatched these guys - they happen to be housed with my Thanksgiving hatch Silkies.

But the Spud Blues are doing great - really easy to pick out some of the roos already.

I should have them in a couple weeks. I ordered white, too, from elsewhere, so when they ALL come in, I will get pics! Very excited about this breed despite some of the reviews. Tired at looking at my now flocks frostbitten combs :(
