Thank you!

I went back to the thread and asked already, then somehow made it back to the page that talked about similar issues that someone else had. I feel a little bit better since she still had a good hatch after having a couple of 10% humidity days herself. I'm gonna sit on my hands with the humidity where it's at right now and hopefully things will be better than 10% in the morning LOL. Woooooooooooooosaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh! :)
Did the temperature go back up? I thought i read you said it was 75, i may have read that wrong though.

I think I meant that in reference to calibrating for the humidity. At this rate, I have no idea LOL. It's stayed steady as far as temps go, it's just been my humidity that has been all over the place. It seems to have found a sweet spot at 51/52 now though, so I'm gonna let it stay there and do its thing. It's WAY better than what was going on before, even if a bit high. I figure that should make up for them dropping to 10% humidity a couple of times.

I personally don't like the Brinsea bator.

Just got the one that has the three different areas to put eggs in. They would not sit up right without a lot of hassle. and jiggling, and bumping. I sold it. :/ This was a few yrs. back, maybe they've made it better now. I know there are the real small ones, that looks ok.
I absolutely LOVE my Brinsea. I love it so much I bought a second one. I hate the rails, I prefer to just stagger the eggs and fit in as many as possible. I cut the little foamy pieces into sections big enough to prop up any small eggs, or the ends of each row. I also HATE cleaning the top of the Brinsea. You need to take out 14 screws, I always seem to put it back on backwards, have to take it off again, and turn it around. That is WAY too many screws. The fans inside the top are tough to clean as well

But I love the humidity pump - it makes it hands off for me. I just have to make sure the reservoir doesn't empty. I also found out the table the bator is sitting on is not quite level, so the water just pours out. It has to be perfectly level. I went from hatching 50 - 70% in my LG, to 95 -100% on my own eggs (when I had a rooster) and 70 - 90 % for shipped eggs. My LG I could never keep the water levels even - there was either way too much, but it dried out too fast. I would have to add water 2 to 3 times per day. I hated that. Now, I fill the water bucket maybe 2 times per hatch.

I still have the LG, and I will use it some times when I have staggered hatches, I"ll move out the early eggs over to the LG, hatch in the Brinsea, clean it and move the eggs back over.

Temperature is way more vital than humidity not saying that humidity is not but humidity swings are not as detrimental as temperature swings. You just dont want it too high or too low for too long because that can affect the air cell. Mine stayed mid 30s until lockdown and for whatever reason would swing high or low occasionally with no ill effects. The most important time to worry about keeping the humidity where it needs to be is during lockdown and hatching. The temperature if far more important at this point, Im glad yours wasnt at 75 degrees! Lol

I've lifted a corner of the lid a couple of times this evening and the humidity keeps going back to 51/52 so I think that's where we are at for the evening. Even if it's in the 20s when I wake up, I'll be more okay with that than 10% LOL The fortunate part of this is that lockdown will start when I'm home from work, so I can watch the bator like a hawk and keep it in range. We have some tubing available that I think will fit through the hole to fill the tray if need be. As long as I don't need to fill the tray every 6 hours during normal incubation, I'm good.

TWENTY more days!

Good Luck!!!

That's it.. Never again!!!
I'm too kindhearted.
Yesterday it was so cold out that I took a man into my home out of kindness of my heart. I felt so sorry for him. Poor thing was just standing out in the cold wind shaking so bad. This morning he had just vanished. Not a word. Not even a goodbye or a thank you for sheltering him.
I then realized he had peed all over the living room floor! That's the thank you I get for being good to people.
So I'm warning all my friends to watch out for this guy. He is heavy set, wearing nothing but a scarf, he has a nose that looks like a carrot, two black eyes, and his arms are so skinny they look like sticks. Don't bring him into your house!
Hope this made you smile like me...
Merry Christmas!
