A Bielefelder Thread !

@DesertChic I would love to see some pics of the Biel/Silkies. Do they still have this peach/golden color? And I it would be great, if you could make the Bielefelders a little more heat tolerant. I stumbled over the Dandarawi Fowl and thought: This could be a breed for you and your crossing projekts. As far a I know we have only two breeders here in Germany. And besides that they are pretty resistant when it comes to disease, that they love the summer heat and that they are autosexing, I couldn't find much on the internet. But maybe someone in the US has this breed,

Could you post a picture here as my internet filter blocked the page. Thanks

I love this comb! What is that called?

I am a bit confused. I thought that this was a Bielefelder thread, but it seems to be about breeding.

I am a "new egg" and have only recently begun posting - I have time now because I am between jobs! I have 2 Bielefelders in my flock of 7 and they are both wonderful girls. They were a little timid at first, and seem to be about 2 months behind the other girls. I assume that this is because of their size. Now they are as curious and sociable as the rest, and immediately jump up and try to get in my lap if I sit down.

I can't say enough about this breed, and I am going to try my hand at hatching some eggs from an NPIP breeder by way of Greenfire Farms.

Any advice would be helpful!

Are those prices for day old chicks, pullets, or adults?

Thanks!

I am going to hatch a clutch next week and am wondering about pricing them. I know that Bielefelder chicks are pricier than others, I paid $25 each for mine as opposed to $10 for my Buff Orpington and other breeds.
