Has anyone crossed their Biel roo with a CL hen? How about with an EE? Will most of his offspring be autosexing?

Biele and creme legbar (or any crele colored bird) should be autosexing. Biele roo and EE hen will not be sexable at hatch. An EE (nonbarred, non white only) roo and a Biele hen will be sexlinked and sexable at hatch but only for that first cross.

I would like to know the answer to this! I have a Biel roo that is 15 weeks, and CL roo and pullet that are 9 weeks old. I was planning on keeping them separate, but perhaps down the road this would be an interesting blend.

I am too impatient to have to wait a year to figure out what will happen when you hatch a cross and then have to wait for them to mature and lay/hatch eggs, and then wait for those to start laying!

I know that immediate gratification is impossible, but having some kind of info would help with the anticipation.

I made the rounds of my neighbors and asked if the Biel roo crowing disturbed them. Everyone said that they liked hearing him!

Who knew that I'd find such a nice little street 10 years ago? It was pretty much a roll of the dice!

Biele and CL should carry the auto sexing function. What you will lose after multiple generations if you aren't careful are the blue egg color and the crest.

My young Bielefelder cockerel is becoming frisky at 15 weeks old. I am not looking to breed him for show, but am curious how he does with the breed standard.

This is Kaiser Roll- after the first hen I decided to give them German food names, so the second hen is named Schnitzel! Kaiser roll is a stretch, but Kaiser suits his stature!

She is lovely, how old is she, and how old are they?

She hatched April 16th. Those others are bantams..they are probably a month older than her! They won't get too big. Especially the white one. She's a Millie, and the other two are ...a black bantam cochin, and the other is a Birchen bantam cochin.

Oh, these birds make for handsome roosters. I wish I had had a boy hatch. Are they known as gentle roosters..or do they all have the different personality in each bird...like most birds.

Oh, these birds make for handsome roosters. I wish I had had a boy hatch. Are they known as gentle roosters..or do they all have the different personality in each bird...like most birds.

I suspect that they all have different personalities. He is a bit skittish at the moment because we had to give the flock antibiotics a couple of weeks ago via injection

. Worth it, since they now have a clean bill of health! Nothing like a flock with bronchitis!

He has grown by leaps and bounds in the last 3 weeks. I know the roos are supposed to be bigger than the hens, so he should get a lot bigger!

At what age do the roosters start crowing? Just wondering if I can keep my little boys for the summer or if I should sell them before my travels....don't want my neighbor to be bothered by the crowing.

I am really impressed so far by how strong and smart these chicks seem compared to the Orpington chicks I have hatched out before. The Bielefelders really seem to have it together. Good thing, too, cause their "mama" seems to randomly give the closest chick a hard peck every once in a while. She is taking care of them, but I think she is a bit ambivalent about motherhood, lol.
