A Bielefelder Thread !

I have noticed that she has more "blonde" colored hackles than some pictures but I've not really noticed any of the pictures I've seen being orange? Or do you mean the copper color of their chests being the color in the hackles?

Oh no i wasn't talking about your pictures of her, i was talking about my bieles hackles are more orange, as far as i know they all have orange chests. Their neck feathers though can be kinda of blonde colored and some orange colored.

I meant that I hadn't noticed pictures of other birds having orange hackles but I just went back through the photos on this thread and I see that theirs definitely some variation in the hackle coloration. I'm wondering if one or the other is more preferred as far as the breed standard goes?

There are a few people here that are trying to improve the breed and find the breed standard from Germany. Maybe they could help, but i don't think the hackle color matters to much, just the coloring on the body should be more brown, for some reason the color is faded here in america to more of a grey/light brown.

Mine is definitely grey... Not brown at all. I noticed that some of the pictures looked brown. I saw someone had posted a google translation of the original German breed standard... I tried to read it but gave up cause most of it made no sense to my non-chicken brain... I would have a hard time understanding something written originally in English lol

Above was posted by Bine, i think this is German breed standard.

Above was posted by TNBielefelder, I think this is also from German breed standard.

I think my girls tail is a little too upright compared to these examples

Well its just a picture, the hen in it could have been relaxed, i think they hold their tails like that when relaxed. One of my girls tail looked like the picture until she started laying, now she holds her tail up like yours most of the time. My other ones still hold there tail straight like the picture, i think they can control their tail to a certain extent. Maybe it depends on mood or something im not sure. You know i just thought, maybe its not even the tail that's the problem, maybe its their back! I know there were some one here talking about biele rooster that had like a v shaped back and its supposed to be flat. So maybe girls have the same problem.

Picked up some new Bielefelders yesterday here is one of the Roosters. The picture doesn't do his size justice he is a big boy! Looks a lot like my last Rooster Jackson. The boys want to name him Big Hoss.

Thank you! He hasn't fully feathered from molt but is getting close. He is squatting a little and quartering toward me slightly. I wanted to get a straight broad side shot of him because he has a nice long flat back and good tail angle but birds never cooperate fully and my cell phone doesn't take great pictures. I am going to bred him to several of my girls this spring and do a February / March hatch. I have 11 girls so hoping for lots of fertile eggs by then.
