A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

My turkeys did not get out yesterday. I gave the chickens and turkeys (plus the three surviving gangsters) a mix of scratch, that I buy at the local feed mill, with corn and BOSS. I threw it in the covered runs. The turkeys were in their run. They roost there at night. Seldom do they go into the coop to roost.

The chickens refused to go into their run. A couple of them sat in the chicken door and reached as far as they could without stepping out. The day before I had left the mandoor open for them for hours. JJ and Sidekick went outside, maybe 6-8 ft from the door. No other bird left the coop. A couple of the older chickens stood in the doorway and looked out.

You know how dangerous and scary that first couple snows are. I will open the mandoor again today and see if they are ready to meet the winter head on.

Ralph, I understand how you're irds feel. Snow isdangerous and scary down here too!

Survived Thanksgiving with the family. Minimum turkey jokes this year. I'm at my house in Missouri & being a lazy bum. More than enough to do around here...

Speaking of Missouri....Feedman, you doing ok? Are you out hunting?

So far no snow, which is unusual. I think Ralph is being nice and keeping it all for himself

Thank you so much

I went to family dinner today and it took longer to get back than I thought. I didn't get back until after sunset so the jerks decided to sleep where they wanted instead of in the hoop coop.. took an hour chasing the bellybuttons off the gate and coop to get them in, Silly BBB hen got behind a half open gate 2 days in a row and can't figure out to turn around, walk 3 ft, and turn around again... I'll have to dig out so I can open the gate all the way to the fence.

Scored about 80 pumpkins from people getting rid of them. they birds will eat one in a day or 2 .. so they will have pumpkins for a while LOL

Yeah my birds are the same. Rather indifferent about the pumpkins. If I hand a seed to Daisy and she'll eat it. But she doesn't mess with the pumpkins much herself.

Mine will make a tunnel into the seeds if I do not split it. The pumpkin itself is only eaten if they can't find anything better. They have ruined more than one future jack-o-lantern for my Grandkids...

mmm I guess mine are hungry.. they are fed in the morning as much as they can eat. A small amount around noon so I can get them in with a full feeding at night.... there isn't much to find in the yard now except pumpkins LOL.. also anything the chickens want the turkeys want.
