A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

We're hoping to get above freezing temps by Sunday. That would be fabulous - I'm getting tired of hauling frozen waterers in at night and back out in the morning. I refuse to buy heated waterers on principle - that would mean it is winter and it freezes here :D I'll just haul my stupid waterers and complain about it :lau

Coco still seems to be on the mend, I'm just keeping an eye on her for the moment. Things seem to be receding back into her, so I'm just watching for infection and hoping for a good outcome. She hasn't laid in several days which is probably helping (they've been hiding in the barn to avoid the snow and it's dark in there).

Aurora - such cuties! And the turkeys look great :)

Memphis - that is quite the temperature drop....bundle up!

Ralph - I love that you have a cuddly roo!! I have one too, my little sicilian buttercup is a sweet boy.

I'm sure hoping Coco recovers. Sounds positive.

I'm still interested in the Buttercups. I think they are such neat birds!

My SS, Gregory Peck, was a sweetie too. Only issue I had with him is that he would sprawl out in a nest box at night & poop in it. He didn't do it all the time. But i sure hated cleaning up after him!

As sweet as my chickens are, my turkeys beat them hands down! I was looking at Aurora's mottled pics again. Thankfully I have limitations or I could get out of control quickly. Hoping to add a third hen this spring. Ralph, I still think you should send me Snitch.

Ok Feedman, lets see those new Bourbons! R2elk, haven't seen any pics lately!!

I love the Mottled Blacks! More people have heard of Royal Palms, so those poults are a bit more popular. I like that I can interbreed the RP's with the Mottled's and get both, since they are only 1 gene different. My current flock is 2 RP toms over 5 mottled hens and 1 RP hen. Hopefully that gets me > 50% RP poults, but still a lot of the mottleds.

feisty: glad coco is getting better.

memphis: pics tomorrow of new bourbons.

Aurora: nice group of birds. I think Adam needs a another tom to pal with maybe he won't be so grouchy.

going to lowes to get rest of pen supplies in the morning to get ready for the winter wonderland that is coming.

Hey dheltzel....if I remember, I thought Aurora got her mottled from you. They sound like fun birds.
Holding you to pics tomorrow Feedman!

Memphis I still have a few left from my original flock.

I have a tom (blue red bronze) that would be a perfect beau for Annie and Daisy. then maybe get you started into the addiction of incubating.

just think of the red and blue colors you could come up with. be up there with ralphie

I am alive barely. I am not even opening the coop doors today.

I hope we get above Zero before Monday, It does not appear we will.

I am signing a petition to increase the speed at which global warming will occur. I may even become an activist for it.

Do your part Burn a tire today!

Thank you :) My other tom is Romeo and Adam harasses him daily, specialty when I go in to visit. Romeo is my special boy. Adam will be Thanksgiving dinner next year, as soon as I get a son from him to replace him. I like all my birds to be friendly, not nasty jerks.

Yep I did :) I love them :) The 3 mottled blacks and 1 of the Palms came from him. The other palm I got at a swap.

Yes, she hatched eggs from my flock. I think they look better than mine . . .

Lol, I seriously doubt that! I actualy sold a trio of them just because I couldn't bring myself to butcher Dinner. He was way too sweet! I kept the two hens with the most white spots :)

Romeo sounds like such a sweetie! Ralph, cant believe your not allowing Snitch to be a lapper.

I really need to decide if I want to try a tom. I hear such varying stories. I almost want to stick with just the hens. Its rather zen around here with just the girls. And I love their eggs!
