A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

I thought I remembered Cuddles being a spring hatch. He looks good for being just a baby! Do you have any hens in with him? SS are still my favorite breed.

The Yoyo's are beautiful. Those tails are amazing.

I actually have a better younger rooster with the girls. The one I am using has a lower tail angle and has better feathering. The feather on a show SS is complicated. You do not want much/any red on the stem, The color should be maroon followed by a thin band of black and a white tip.

Cuddles is good but not perfect he has a slight red on the stem and the black band is a tad wide, his tail set is a little high. He is still a good rooster just not as good as the young one I am using. Cuddles has a great head, comb and waddles, if I can keep them over the winter.

What is a good affordable brooder I can pick up? Our Black is trying to mate with our Rio Grande Wild Hen so we figure we'll be needing a brooder eventually. We're kind of excited.

Also does anyone know if we can become a heritage breeder

Buy a heat lamp and you have a good affordable brooder.

Anyone can breed turkeys, it is getting known and having good turkeys that is hard to do. I doubt a cross between a Rio Grande and a Black will have much market.

Do poults require a higher protein feed or can they be fed non-medicated chick starter? I'm assuming they pretty much brood the same as chickens and everything else?
