A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Hey all, I'm considering getting turkeys but I have a few questions about them
1) how noises are they, I have guineafowl and chickens which my neighbours tolerate but I don't want anything loader for example pea fowl would be too noisy.... the neighbours are about a field away.

2) do they free range well, the breed I'd be getting are bronze. I was hoping they could free range with the guineafowl and perch in the tree at night with the Guineas.

3) how friendly are they? Will they be aggressive or will they be tame?

My two cents :)

There's gonna be a multitude of opinions lol - my husband finds that my toms gobbles are loud, but they don't sound that loud to me. My turkey hens talk a lot but are no louder than my chickens really.

Perching in trees with the guineas - this would depend on whether they are heritage turkeys or broad breasted varieties (meat birds). Heritage turkeys would likely roost up high with no problems, but meat birds get way too heavy to fly.

I believe that turkeys free range well - but like others have said - they are curious about everything and don't necessarily respect boundaries :)

Friendly - is somewhat dependent on how they were raised, and somewhat dependent on the individual. I have one tom that is a jerk and the rest of mine are lovely to be around.

I guess I could Google " Things that blow up in microwaves" probably get flagged... I'm already on the no fly list for asking if I could bring my parachute in carry on luggage. Don't even think about a self inflating life boat
JR I have to ask. Are you actually on a no fly list or was that a joke :lau

I'm not POSITIVE Holm, but it is a possibility. I have an extreme dislike of the federal government.... And I HAVE received a call from the FBI years back... Got into some restricted sensitive material. Lol. They had a sense of humour THEN.
