A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Wow....isnt he handsome! Is he sttill ad cuddly?

Thank you! He's still my sweet boy. He won't jump up on my lap to be cuddled anymore but I can hug him if I want and he'll show off for me. In those pictures, I put him out in the yard and ran backwards to try to get a good picture and he kept following me lol. God forbid I ever try to hold or hug one of the other boys. He takes total offense to that and will threaten and chase off the offending boy lol

Well off to my house in Ste. Genevieve MO. I'm under siege from family & friends from St. Louis to view the eclipse. We will have 2 minutes & 40 seconds of totality. One of the longest blackouts. Estimates range from 10,000 to 68,000 desending on our little historic town of 4000. How nuts is that?
Feedman should be close to totality. And R2elk will experience it. Won't be home till Tuesday. Sure wish I cpuld sit out with my birds to observe their reactions. Oh well....

That will be neat to see, just watch out for those crazies! My brother lives in Bend, OR and the entire community has been warned to stock up on necessities because there are going to be shortages on everything. We may drive up to a couple hours to get a better view without clouds but we won't get anywhere near totality. Maybe 75%-80%

I am so sorry to hear about your little poult SFG. I hope the other poult finds a new buddy.

Sigh... last night one of the lil turklets was actin funny at bedtime. Hubby just thought she was tired... it was bedtime right. This mornin she is gone. :/. We had two bronze ladies and they were three or four months old. We already have a pair of grown hens and a tom but were lookin forward to the two littles growin into big girls. We also have four broad breasted whites the same age as the little ladies. Now i wonder how the bronze that is left will do... she and the other lady were always toolin round together and roosted together at night. I guess at least she does have others her age just not her buddy now.

Casper is in the direct line of the totality with 2 minutes and 28 seconds of totality. The weather for the 21st is listed as mostly sunny with a high of 78°F. They have something like 5 days of festivities scheduled beginning today. Churches are charging for the ability to watch the eclipse from their parking lots. At least one hotel/motel is charging $100 for a 20'x20' spot in their parking lot.

The state is scheduling all of the Highway Patrol to be on duty with the expectation that many of the travelers with be parking on the Interstate berm to watch the eclipse.

I think that 3" fell while I was putting the cattle panels on the new shelter. When I was getting ready to move here, I looked up average rainfall... Supposed to be about 25" or so per year. Year to date, we're already at 29.7" It hasn't rained today--but supposed to tomorrow. So I'm right there with you... Just havin a little fun.:old
I got a total of 0.85" of rain in July with the bulk (0.75") of it coming in one 8 hour session. There has been much more rain this month, a whole 1.03" with the biggest session being 0.46" overnight and off and on for most of one day. There is no such thing as mud here on my sand dune.

I am totally convinced that I have my own personal rain cloud... I drag my tools out to the pasture and get to work (perfectly blue sky), then bucket loads. :hit I get back to the house, dry off and it quits. :he

Thanks hon. She seemed to be ok today. She kinda hung close to Cletis the tom i noticed. But she did mill about with everyone else and ate and drank and dunked her feets in the cool pool. We spent all mornin up with them makin the calf barn they sleep in into one big room and one small on the end instead of three separate rooms for them.

Just so you know I was NOT yelling at you. lol. I WAS making fun of the 3" of rain. I believe our rainfall is estimated to be 38-39 inches for the yearly average. These storms are a very "Hit or Miss" for a lot of people. It just seems to me that it's hitting here way more than normal. I guess the term "normal" is relative. smh

Normally, from the middle of July to the middle of August - most of my yard turns brown out back. Funny that I have mowed every week and sometimes twice with a riding mower all summer!

What is really sad, is that just a few miles away from me, there are small pockets of land (but comprised of several thousand acres) that has seen very little rain at all over the past few years.

My sister lives 2 miles away. Last night I said something to her about the storm we had yesterday evening with all the thunder, lightning, heavy winds that blew over one of my wooden tables, and rain that was just pouring.

She said "What storm?" :he

Oh I soooo know what you mean. I open the new work shed, get tools ready, put them in my cart behind my mower - go around back. Get started and 20 minutes later the sky is black, clouds are roiling overhead and the rain is coming down in sheets and Sideling Hill Mountain has disappeared. That happened 3 days last week.

I didn't open the shed this week. Still rained.

You must have a higher class sand dune than I do.....Or it could be I build my breeding pens right over the area the pig pen was for 60 years.....I have no idea how long, other than it predates me.

My 5 young teens committed a capital offense today. They may not be alive tomorrow. Can you guess what the offense was?

They decided to bully Bert and Bertha. Bertha being my oldest toad and most precious bird will not be picked on by ill mannered turkey poults. The only thing that keep them alive was when I was running to safe her, I got stuck and tripped into the "net" Jr used to show what a salmon in a net looks like. I could not get my shoe free, so I kicked it off and ran to save Bertha.

I Immediately put the gangsters into jail to think about their actions.

Oh no! Not Bertha & Bert! Rotten kids!

So...as soon as I got into southern Missouri there were signs posted every 5 miles saying "No Parking on Shoulder". Lots of out of town license plates a already floating about town! All kinds of activities planned to entertain the tourists this weekend. Big doings in little Ste. Genevieve! The LSU (Louisianna State University ) "Mobile Astronomy Lab" is already parked at one of the hotels. Right next to the Ole Miss' " Mobile Astronomy Lab". Had no idea there were such mobile astronomy things about. I'll keep ya all posted.

R2elk...sounds like Casper & surrounding areas are under siege too!!
