A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Oh good heavens. The monsoons are back again. Had a few hours yesterday of sunshine, but it rained all night and now it looks like rain all day again. I think I should buy a couple "wing floats" for the turkeys and a rubber boat for the chicks.

It really needs to dry up around here. :hit

Well off to my house in Ste. Genevieve MO. I'm under siege from family & friends from St. Louis to view the eclipse. We will have 2 minutes & 40 seconds of totality. One of the longest blackouts. Estimates range from 10,000 to 68,000 desending on our little historic town of 4000. How nuts is that?
Feedman should be close to totality. And R2elk will experience it. Won't be home till Tuesday. Sure wish I cpuld sit out with my birds to observe their reactions. Oh well....

NO kidding my breeding pens are smelling like pig pens.

I have been out moving the electric netting into a better position so I can let the birds in the breeding pens out into clean grass, they look so bad in the mud. Mud on this sand dunes is such a rare thing.

Anyways, the inspection crew has been supervising all day. They got trapped on the wrong side of the netting and did they ever have a discussion before they almost shut the project down. When they discovered they could still get outside life was better...

And Jr is such a jokester. He decided to show the other birds what a salmon looks like and acts like when it gets into a gill net..

He flopped around and screamed bloody murder. They others really laughed at him and told him how funny it looked. I went over an helped release him. Which is not as easy as you might think.

One of them must have called Jr a bad name in Turkey, because I no sooner got Jr out then he was starting a snood pulling contest that quickly escalated to kick boxing and MMA fighting.

I put an end to the fight and ran them off, then cane inside for an ice water. I am sure all is calm out there now.

I just love it when you reach down to pick one up and they thrust there wings into the hot wire. Everytime I've been bit by the fence, its been through a turkey.:barnie

As for the monsoons, you guys can keep em... I've only gotten 3" this month.:plbb

Have fun, Memphis! Watch out for all those extra people though. I have friends in a couple of other small towns that are being swamped by visitors. Unfortunately, they are having a lot of problems with people drinking and causing trouble. Not a good thing.

Only 3?!?! I think I am averaging rain almost every day with a few hours of sunshine here and there - which is just to tease me. I get a project started and then it gets a tad swampy around here with the heavy downpours and the strong winds. I have tree limbs coming down large enough to make logs out of.

My outside coops are almost mud holes and my hay bale garden is composting faster than the stuff can grow.

I swear the earth's axis has turned and I am now located where Seattle used to be.

Ralphie, you are really great at telling funny stories and I appreciate the nuggets of truth and information scattered throughout them.

I find it funny when Tommie gets into a fight - with his own snood! His eyes almost cross as he glares at the thing - like it's going to walk away on it's own!

I think that 3" fell while I was putting the cattle panels on the new shelter. When I was getting ready to move here, I looked up average rainfall... Supposed to be about 25" or so per year. Year to date, we're already at 29.7" It hasn't rained today--but supposed to tomorrow. So I'm right there with you... Just havin a little fun.:old
