A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Hey Feedman...congrats on the pluckers. You'll have to give us a review. Can it do those little quail?
Driving up through the delta last weekend I noticed the cotton in bloom. And once in Missouri the corn was browning. I noticed leaves starting to drop in Missouri...only things dropping here are feathers.

Annie's current state of featherness.

Correct... it is 0.5cc/mL per kg which comes out to 0.23cc/mL per pound, but is safe to round up to 0.25cc/mL per pound...

Treat for 5 consecutive days if tapeworm is suspected... otherwise treat 1 day then again in 10 days...

Unless it is the very expensive water soluble type(I dunno if it's even available in US) Safeguard shouldn't be mixed in water for full effectiveness... it settles to the bottom...
I do individual dosing, more work but guarantees full effectiveness...

I used Ivermectin on my flock (still do for external parasites) but it did not stop mine from becoming overloaded with gapeworm... Ivermectin is not, IMO, an effective dewormer...
Never seen gapeworm. Montana has a hard, dry climate, so we don't get many of the same bugs. We do get tapeworms and roundworms, and it kills that. My biggest issues are lice and mites.

Let all my poults out to range with the flock. They were leary at first but found the grass weeds and fencerow and had a blast figuring out the new stuff.

My adults paid no attention to them. All breeding pens are ranging know.

Bought a yardbird plucker for the grown out chickens. Wanted one to do turkeys but couldnt swing the extra $$$. Tsc had a good deal I think. 399. On them til end of month.

Temps are around 80 during day 60s at night. Seeing a few trees leaves turning and the corn is Browning up. Harvest should start right after labor day if the rain holds off.

every time TSC has a sale on them, the web site keeps telling me they are out of stock online and the nearest store is in MO that has them...
so I gave up and bought one from amazon for 425 (free shipping like tsc has right now) It came Wednesday and I used it this morning... works great on chickens, I had a bachelor that I was going to process that came out of the coop with his head hanging down and acting like he was trying to swallow something...
I should have checked his throat and crop BEFORE I threw him in the plucker though..cleans the crop out too LOL
Things I need to remember:
my leaky bucket got plugged with feathers so I need to get the drill out..It was ready to overflow.
I had a feather stuck between the feather plate and the motor, around the shaft
and somehow I had feathers sucked into the motor vent on the underside of the motor.
