A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

What up with these weather forecasters? I wouldn't have my job long if I was wrong so much!
60 here right now....but sun is going down & boy it gets chilly quickly.
I just woke up from a long(ish) nap. There is snow on my son's Thunderbird in the front yard (and he needs to MOVE it!). Oh boy, and there is snow on the pond and on the metal roof of the new shed.
:hit:hit:hit

I hate winter........

Yipes....snow!

One of the neighbors sped by last night on his Harley. Both girls flapped & started to run after him. What the heck up with that?

Girls always go after the bad boys... Apparently across species lines too. Haha!

We only ended up with 2" or so last night. When I came out, the turkey girls were still in the tree. They were calling or complaining, but once they saw me, they flew right down.

We've got snow everywhere too. Hubby made it home safe from work last night but it took him a half hour longer than usual and he said it was a scary drive. Kids have a snow day today too.
Yes and I still have all of mine. Want some more??? :lau

I am so glad I do not work away from here. I spent too many years driving in the stuff to get to work and pray I was able to get back home. Yes on the scary and esp so in these mountains.

Grandson had a 2 hour delay for school and the county roads started last night plowing. Again, it can only be for practice because there is only a couple inches max. lol. I do think they at least put some salt down - even though I have no expectations of going anywhere anytime soon.

That said, west of me had 4 plus inches. It looked really nasty on the traffic cams. Glad it's there and not here, but I know my days (weeks, months) are coming.

 - I hate snow and ice and sleet and all of winter weather combinations.

On another note, I started 4 trays of sprouts for the birds. Hope they grow fast and figure the birds will take anything edible. Black beans, Pinto beans, lentils, alfalfa and some other added "stuff" (seeds). If they do grow well, I will invest in a bunch of bean seeds. :D My feed supplier said he would sell me 50 lbs of wheat seed for $8. Anyone ever feed that to the turkeys or other birds? I figure 50 lbs would get me through most of winter!:yesss:

Turkey's love wheat. sprouted or just the berries. At least mine do.
Very Good! I will make sure I get a bag of wheat this weekend. :D
I'm pretty sure that some of the spilled scratch has sprouted in the chicken yard at one time or the other. I know I have seen the birds eating it, but didn't think much about it as there is always something sprouting up - under buckets, under plastic tote lids, etc. At least this way, I can make sure I have it pretty regularly. Thanks, rjohns :))

Well, I'm convinced that the turkeys not only understand us, but that they understand what their boundaries are supposed to be. I just walked out on the deck and one of my BR teen toms was hanging out closer to the house than he's supposed to be. When I yelled at him, he ran, flapping his wings all the way back to the areas they're supposed to hang out. And one of the RP hens had to yell at me while standing on one of my trailers. I think she was saying she's allowed to be there.
