A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

IKR?!?!!!... you should send it to meeeeeeeeee! I tell you for truth! Hahahhaahaha!

He's already 2 years old and WAY too big for a serama. I'm using him for hours frizzled gene and handsome looks lol. I'm going to breed him to the smaller ladies and then breed his frizzled daughters to my tiny little roo Simon to shrink them down.

Simon

After that, I think I'll integrate him in to the main flock and let him live out his days parading around the yard as handsome yard candy :) He's such a sweet little teddy bear! For now though, he has to get through his quarentine. He's recovering from a rather nasty case of scaly leg mites but I think we annihilated those buggers on his first night here.

Believe it or not, those feet look WAY better than they did when I brought him home. If id known they'd be healing up so fast, I would've taken a picture before the first treatment. They're even better now than they were in the pic (which was this morning)

That is awesome! Did you do a gasoline dip on his feets? Or somethin else?

I think seramas are just so adorable! And a frizzly dude to boot. Oh yea! We have two bantam barred rocks that i just love. They are so wee but one of the ladies... buddy she has a big girl tude for sure! She has no problem bein right in the thick of it when i give treats and scraps. She is too funny to watch. The other lil lady just toodles round everywhere willy nilly makin her sweet lil noises lol! I think i may try findin a few batam frizzly cochins. Or just reg bantam cochins. I think i want so ethin that will go broody but they are broody a LOT and that seems a lot more work tryin keep em out of the box all the time. But i dunno yet. I REALLY would love true blue whitings or cream legbars and a blrw i think. I want blue in my basket and both of those are beautiful birds. The blrw are just lovely to look at. Then i think eh maybe a few turkeys lol! Cause i would love to find a blue slate hen or two round here to get. And turkeys do have the best personalities... well so far for us lol!

Blrw are stunning if you get them from the right breeder! And CCL, you can't beat their pretty blue eggs, though I am partial to my lavender ameraucanas for blue eggs. I think everyone just needs one of everything lol. Your little barred rocks sound like quite the characters!

For Jazz's legs, I put a couple drops of ivermectin on the back of his neck to kill the mites from the inside. Then I did a warm soapy (dawn dish soap) water soak with a few drops of peppermint essential oil added. After a few minutes soaking, I used an old toothbrush to gently scrub his legs. Chunks of old, nasty, bunched up dead skin and scales were just falling off! After the scrub, I died his legs and coated them with vaseline. I did the same to his lady as a preventative even though she doesn't seem to have an active issue. He got here yesterday evening and I did it once last night, once this morning and once this evening after a spa treatment. Yes, I bathed both their stinky butts! The water had to be changed in between their baths that were so gross. The pictures were taken right after their bath and blow dry.
Word of advice to any who care: when using a forced air dryer made for dog grooming, do not let go of your serama!

If you cross a Royal Palm tom with a Blue Slate hen you will make 25% Tri-Color Mottled Black toms and 25% Tri-Color Mottled Slate toms and 25% Mottled Black hens and 25% Mottled Slate hens. Because they are heterozygous for their color genes, they will not breed true.

I have a pairing coming this spring!!!

I was wondering who to mate with whom, now I know...

Also "Easter" might be taking a vacation. A person I know lost her Tom and wants to borrow one. I would not mind lending that SOB out........the day he returns he loses his head...Or maybe before...

I was playing with the turkey color calculator last night....wow, Mister can make some awesome poults with my girls! He's not showing any interest in that stuff yet but once he does....I may end up just keeping Romeo and Mister by the end of the season.

The last couple years, bourbon reds were the big color. This year, the only preorders I have are for royal palms.

I swear there is something "different" about RPs.

Ralph, what color is Easter?

No turkey eggs here yet. Last year they were both laying by now. Actually, last year they started early.

Thank you!

If you can actualy count your chickens, you don't have enough lol

Seriously, I have ABOUT 45-50 adult chickens, no clue how many babies right now (maybe 40?), 12 turkeys, 3 Muscovy ducks, and 2 geese
LOL, i only meant how many seramas
