A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

R2elk,,,I think your hens need to take up ballet. Mine are in and out without disturbing the nest or breaking an egg.
My experience is that if there are no eggs in the nest to start with, they will lay their egg and leave without breakage. If there are eggs in the nest before they crawl in , there will be breakage.

I can't find anything on her. Can she be having issues laying her first egg? Shes hunched up like a depressed chicken. Then gets up and walks a bit. Not eating or drinking much. Giving her a bath tonight. And vitamins. More of the yellow discharge.

I put in their nesting boxes and threw in random pine branches. They love those pine branches lately.

I set up an appointment for my defective one eyed tom and my guinea fowl to head to freezer camp. I don’t think I have to worry about the defective tom breeding any hens... he was trying to mount a male guinea fowl and then kept walking into a wall on the other side of a hen... his depth perception is waaay off!

Wow... Well mine have rejected every attempt I've had at a nest box and they build their own nest. No one is laying yet and all my hens are still young. Tonight I finally got some questions answered. Got home from work before sundown and got to watch everyone head home for the night. My loan RP hen who I put in the greenhouse to keep safe has escaped, but the for the life of me I couldn't figure out where she is sleeping. She's sleeping in the greenhouse. She flies up to the window, perches there for a bit and then flies into the greenhouse. She's first out in the morning. Since this weekend, her quarters will become the convent, I have to figure out how she escaped. I have four sells in the greenhouse so I'm going to put the RIWs in one, the convent in one and make one the hotel suite. The bachelor pad will not be in the same structure this year as I learned my hard taught lesson last year. Still trying to decide if I want to breed Dels or ducks this year. BTW Ralphie you'll love this... The RP hen found her way into the garden today and pulled all my onion transplants and a couple dozen carrots. I need deer fence for the garden. :he:barnie

The little penciled poults are almost 2 weeks old now. They're growing fast! They wouldn't stand still very long for a picture though lol.
