A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Got my first egg today! I have four bourbon hens all the same age so not sure who was first.

I put in those nice tote nest boxes and she laid the thing on top of the poop pile under the roost. Silly bird!

I don’t have an incubator or a broody hen so will probably be eating these and see if any hens go broody or if I need to start researching egg incubation, lol!

If want one of your turkey hens to possibly go broody. Just put it in oNE of the totes you want her/others to lay in and leave it. Let them build up a collection of eggs. Usually will do the trick.

Congrats on first egg

It's not uncommon for turkeys to drop their first eggs where ever they happen to be at the time the egg wants laid. If it was on top of the poop pile under the roost, it was most likely dropped while the hen was on the roost.

Yeah I figured she “plopped” it out while roosting. I did put some plastic Easter eggs in the nesting boxes, shavings, and some twigs/branches to get them to lay there so if they lay them where they *should* I’ll leave them and let them go broody. I figured this one was an unexpected egg.
