Oh no, that's awful! Have you filed a complaint with the PO?

Many times and with the post master too... and the hatcheries are hounding them as well since they’re the ones refunding those losses (until can get PO to reimburse).

Hope the ones I custom ordered and brought home do ok... only 2 of the 25 I wanted survived shipping. I only wanted 2 but didn’t mean kill the other 23! Just also hoping they’d don’t die off from the stress.

I gave all the birds that arrived and survived nutri drench directly by mouth a few times and made a warm food mash. Also put nutri drench in the water and put them in their own tank to be left undisturbed and hopefully recoup some.... poor things.

I have a friend that is supplying turkey eggs for me to hatch and the plan was to split the poults..... so 2 weeks ago I hatched out a batch for him to take home, things went ok he made it home with 5.... a couple days later 2 drowned in the water dish, sngfsf... ok a couple more days and 2 more were mysteriously dead..cvhhdsx. so he brought the lone turkey poult back to me and it is doing very well in with the babies I hatched out a week later..... so not the po but definitely heart breaking to see babies suffer.
Ps. Going forward he may.... maybe get to take them home when they are much bigger...... I have not decided yet. Lol

The only thing concerning me about one of the two is that she’s smaller and I’ve yet to feel her crop full. The others eat like pigs and look like they swallowed a grape by mid day (did empty overnight) but hers is maybe only a few pecks of food. Not sure there’s a way to make her eat more or if she’s just shutting down? I’ve seen her drinking the nutridrench water and even poop, sooo guess time will tell.

Are the others keeping the smaller one from food? Maybe add another dish, just for good measure.

Aurora....such cute girls! So did Pebbles accept the chicks? Will that get her off the nest? My girls mothered those two baby SS. And did a great job of it. The SS still follow my turkey hens around and run to them if they get scared or upset over something. They are sleeping with the chicken, but as soon as I let the turkeys out they come running.

She always accepts the chicks lol. It's just weather or not she's been sitting long enough to get off the nest. Time will tell. Once she's off, I typically take the babies away after a day or two because she's not very protective. The Cockerel I gave her last year ended up with a broken leg somehow. He's one of my nice breeders now though

I’ve got 2 feeders in there and a sprinkling on the ground too. All 6 of my recent ones are still doing ok it seems. 4 are from the rough shipment. 5 of 25 sussex made it and 2 of 25 australorp.... terrible odds. Some of the breeds we got were total losses.

May or may not lose one of the blue australorp She’s just not willing to eat on her own. She’s 4 days old, crop empty. Think she’s starving out. She drinks but will not eat. Ineven blended starter crumble and mixed some yolk and nutri drench all together and put it in a water bath to warm it slightly and gave to her via syringe drops and letting her swallow. She was fighting being fed but she’s tiny and so vocal. Her crop is about a third full and she was slightly less vocal. All the others are voracious and she sits in the food and cries.

Try making a smoothie with nutrients and scrambled egg. Use the eye dropper the whole way in the back of the throat and force it in her too her crop is full. Wait a while until it goes down then do it again. This miracle smoothie has saved many a chick and injured bird here. I hope she pulls through.
