A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

I know she's awful at it but I've tried multiple times in the past to break her when she goes broody but she's too stubborn. She WILL starve herself to death if she doesn't get babies
The only chickens I could break were ones I wanted to brood and moved to a safer location. :rant I tried to break some chickens when I had 18 broody and it was 80f at night... moving them to a wire cage didn't help
I did break a broody BBB by sticking towel wrapped frozen packs under her

I have a stubborn SPR hen that doesn't break no matter what you do to get. I've shoved multiple ice packs under her.... She will growl but then heat them up to get body temp. I can spend all day, swapping out ice packs and she'll just keep heating them up. Of course the broody breaker cage doesn't work on her either. She's actually a good mom though so it's easier to just give her something to raise. One of my BCM pullets in the breeding pen is one that she raised up for me.

I have had some stubborn ones, but I have found chicken noodle soup (for us to eat) cures a myriad of chicken problems... I bought an electric meat grinder for making turkey and chicken burgers... I am thinking it will solve some problems also....

My oldest and dearest RP Tom was inquiring about the inner workings of the grinder today... but he back off and went the other way when I turned and stared at him...

I just collected my very first ever cute little perfectly formed eggs! :celebrate (I know... pathetic, but hey it’s a big milestone for me... oh yes, and for the two newly minted hens, whoever they are, of course.)

I found them this evening in the nest boxes... I was so surprised when I glanced and saw two in a box... one fake and one... REAL! So cool. Then there were two in another one. I forgot to photograph them in the shell, but they look good in the cup, too.

Alicia....those baby pics are wonderful!

Daisy was grazing in the front yard. I wandered down a yard to chat with some neighbors. Daisy flew a yard & a half to catch up with me. The cluster of neighbors gave her a standing ovation . Well, okay they were already standing, but they all clapped. Everyone seems to appreciate a big blue bird going airborne. Speaking of big blue birds...I picked her & Annie up the other day & plopped them on a grooming table just to check them out. Geez...they haven't missed many meals. Little porkers. Kind of surprised Daisy can get her fat butt off the ground!

You're going to be overflowing with poults! My incubator goes in to lockdown tomorrow. I think I have 6 turkey eggs due, but something like 40 quail too lol
Yes my husband is seriously concerned about what we will do with them when they outgrow the brooder.... but I love them so we will find a way to build more grow outs.
