You know R2elk....luckily I only have the two. I could get over my head with spoiled birds very quickly. That would be a disaster. I can manage just the two. And by in large they behave themselves. They follow the rules. We have our routine. They are good girls. If I had anymore I'd be overwhelmed and things would get out of control!! LOL!!

Sorry i been absent. Life has been crazy. No poults on the way. Got my first two eggs of the season thos mornin though. :)

Had one loner layin in the pasture a month or so ago. But that was it til now.

I still don't have any eggs, but last year she didn't start until middle of march

Turkey love was in the air this morning , but it was the same hen as last time. another laid down put a 3rd jeny picked at her head and she got up.
Had to put the spare boy in a different pen since he was pecking at the jennie's hen while his dad was doing the deed... Next warm day he'll go to freezer camp, although that looks to be close to April with this crazy weather.
 
Turkey love was in the air here too,,,

I was feeding and watering and I heard a whining squeal for help....One of the RP hens was under the Tom begging me to help her... I let the rape go on for about 5 minutes then went and saved her.

If he continues this action he will be out of the pen. I no longer need Toms with my hens. I no longer really need turkey eggs.

Easter is coming, one of the guys should go into a pen with lots of corn in it for a few weeks...........
 
SFGWife....was wondering where you were!! Missed ya.

Got home to find Annie all curled up and asleep right out side the backdoor. She looked so cute! I'd like to think she was waiting for me....but most likely she was just getting away from Daisy. Daisy was out foraging. They aren't actively fighting. ..yet. Just threatening looks and random pecks. I've stocked up on beer. The only thing I can do during spring hormone season.

My turkeys never drink beer.. A few might have a wine now and then but most are teetotalers.
