A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

It was 20°F this morning and is now up to 32°F. Looks like I need to clean out all the turkey nests since 27°F is the killer temp. None of the hens were sitting on their eggs last night. It is supposed to start warming back up on Thursday.
Yeah it's been spitting a bit of snow this morning, but it's not supposed to really snow until tonight and all day tomorrow...
Wednesday is May day so the kids like making may day baskets to sneak on to the neighbor's doors.

My mom had us make May baskets when we were little. All the neighbors were confused and a bit suspicious of our weird behavior. I guess that’s not a “thing” in Florida... As I recall she had a hard time explaining. Some were afraid of the baskets and she had to remove them. That would have been the early-mid ‘60s.

Anyway, I’m so happy to hear your kids do this. I’ve always thought it a delightful tradition but I’ve been nervous of doing it with my own kids. No one in our little Black Hills town did it that I knew of, so I wasn’t sure it would be well-received. You are so blessed. :)

It's certainly uncommon, but I thought it was a really fun tradition to bring back, especially since our neighborhood has many lonely elderly. We don't make very many, because the kids get too bored after a while, and I want it to be fun, but it's great for a bit of fun pretending to be like santa.

here are the baskets, little princess made the flowers, I glued the baskets, and my boy folded paper cranes to put in each one for good luck. I found clearance Easter candy, little fun packs of jelly belly beans and the individual wrapped marshmallow eggs.
