A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Had 2 turkey hens go broody. Letting them set. Finally started getting eggs from my blue slates.

Weather is nice temp wise. But rain is starting to get old. Good for the garden. But makes they pens and yard a muddy mess. They have us in a forecast of 6 to 8 inches of rain over next 10 days.

Have quite a few eggs in the incubators. But several power outages I think have either caused the incubators to spike in temp. Having a lot of strung out hatches and lot a deaths at about same time. My main large hatch should start day after memorial day.

Do to time constraints lately and other things. Going to reduce by flock down to 2 trios of turkeys and 6 chickens (light brahmas) and a roo. Now just need to decide on trios I want to keep. Leaning blue slate and bourbon red.

Goldie turkey has laid 11-12 eggs. Debating letting her try to hatch and if she even decides to do that. Or take at least half and put in incubator.

If she doesn't, easy decision I suppose.

Went down to fed and Goldie is sitting on her eggs. Woot! :celebrate

Hopefully, she will stay there. Will have to watch close. :D

So far, 1 black chicken chick out, 5 in various stages of pip or zip.

Will be interesting to see if my buff orpington "Ms Coffee" eggs will hatch. She quit laying 3-4 years ago and suddenly started again this spring. She's about 8 years old now.

That said, one of those eggs has pipped. :O

Feedman....I like Blue Slates & Bourbon Reds! But maybe I'm a bit prejudice.
