A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

I miss having a dog around :( Our Siberian husky passed away about 2 1/2 years ago. She was 12. We had to put our old terrier mix down last fall. He was almost 15. And our bulldog mix passed away on us out of the blue this spring. She was only 6 years old but had a lot of health issues. She was my special girl and I miss her terribly. DH is not a dog person so it'll be a while till we have another dog but I'm really missing having one around.

And the babysitter is one of my white muscovy ducks that doesn't have a drake. She tried to sit her eggs until I broke her from that. Then she tried to sit chicken eggs - but I had removed TR from the equation a few weeks before - all duds.

Now she thinks these are HER babies. I believe she and Goldie have come to some sort of understanding. Goldie watches the sky and Queenie watches the poults. She's REALLY protective, too!

On a more frustrating note, I candled my midget white turkey eggs at 10 days (last night). I am of the opinion they are all duds, too. One clear, the others - well, I cannot see any blood vessels. I guess I will let them stay in the incubator a few more days before I know for sure. (sigh)

So our heat index was over 100 yesterday. Same forecasted for today. It's tough on all the birds. I hate it when they pant. But lots of shade, water & fans. Tough on me too! Hiding indoors! But the biggest whimp of all is the coonhound! Boy is he a creature of comfort! Found him yesterday sleeping on a cool leather couch. Upside down, fully stretched out, long legs in the air, snoring. Wish I had a pic. But he moved as soon as I came in the room.

I feel your frustration... I had moved my weekend hatch into lockdown Wednesday and last night all 4 of the turkey eggs looked to be quitters, so frustrated because they were moving at lockdown. Grrrrrrr I do have a few pips with chicken eggs

I feel your pain. Geeze, what a year this has been for hatching.

I am leaving mine in the incubator for a few more days in case I am just panicking for no reason. That, just maybe - I am being premature on my assessments. Maybe I am expecting to see what is not yet seeable. :hmm

I have to agree - being paranoid doesn't mean things won't go wrong. This year so far - it has been every time on everything.
