A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Are you talking about the ants that always fall from the tree and sneak attack ya? :rant
I do not know what kind of ant they are, Trim. We had even packaged up a bunch and took them to the local Agricultural place. They said they didn't know what they were either. Back then, computer searches were practically non-existent. I ran a local BBS on a suitcase 8088 computer, but unless you worked in DOS, there wasn't much else going on. lol. I have looked them up since then, and have found nothing that resembles the ones we had. The stingers were quite prominent and not like the ones I have seen in the ant guides.

It's an Elongated Twig Ant!

No, it's not that one. Nor is it the pavement ant, the Pharaoh, or any of these others I have seen photos of.

These were small - like the common black ant-sized ants where I live now. But with stingers.

Do my poults are somewhere around 3 months old. I've not seen any tail displaying other than the horizontal spread. Is that normal?
How long do they keep their juvenile feathers?
Mine were displaying before three months, but there are around half a dozen males, not (possibly) one, and only 3-4 little jakes/tommies displaying. The big BBB tommies up on the hill started gobbling (apparently because someone was shooting off in the woods). When they did, the littles down by the house started gobbling back. It was SOOOO adorable. Now most of those little males are with the BBBs and chickens and geese, because they were getting too rowdy, chasing my little pullets around. They’re not displaying any more but they sometimes do gobble.

Anyway, you could try playing the gobbling call of adult males for them. Maybe they’ll do like mine and gobble back (or maybe not, especially if they’re both girls.) :)

If the extension was an actual stinger, it is likely they are some form of wasp. If the extension is an ovipositor and not an actual stinger, I don't know what it is.
