A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

I know my girlie are supposedly in their bellybutton stage. But gosh they are sweeties! And are behaving like true southern ladies. I have to thank Daisy for the good manners. They are getting a little tired of me having to grab them for a big hen hug as I let them out to range. Nothing like a fluffy ball of feathers.

Anybody order the Porter Special? I hope so....its always a cool surprise!!
:lau:lau:lau I might have, but I now have more turkeys than I can count. North of 30 anyway. But the good news is that nearly half are R2Elk’s Sweetgrass, plus a mottled black and a blue one. (I’m sure I’ve got the color names wrong, but they’re sure pretty poults! :love:love:love)

This week's hard work is DONE! :)

Poor Poppy. Iris is getting all the attention. Skinny Iris has beautiful feathers and a sweet demeanor. Poppy, not so much. A friend stopped by to visit with her 4 year old grandson. All he wanted was Iris and acted afraid of Poppy. Of course what he got was Daisy! She cut the kid off at the pass & usurped all his attention. The two poults watched from a distance. Kid was a bit hyper. Of course that didn't bother Daisy, but the poults weren't having it. Daisy is such a pro at hijacking kids. Its actually pretty funny.

It's funny how much Daisy loves kids. It makes me laugh hearing her stories!

Yesterday, everyone wanted out to range. Eve, Pebbles, Sweet Pea, Lil, Duchess and Nibbles were all out first thing. I wish I had me camera with me. I was sitting on the bench by the turkey run with Lil next to me, just loving her up when the geese came over. They like to be my personal body guards and I really can't go anywhere without them. Lil was not happy about that. She puffed up in to a full strut and started threatening and challenging the boys. Of course, instead of walking away, Lollipop had to come closer and assert his dominance. A couple pecks and bites later, I had to shoe Lollipop away and comfort poor defeated Lil. She stayed in a full strut complaining for the next 10 minutes or so while I was sitting there with her, whining and complaining the whole time. I wasn't allowed to stop petting her. If I did, she'd peck/pull at my arm. By this point, Eve was on my lap and Pebbles was complaining by my feet which made her even more frustrated, not getting the attention all to herself, but she knows better than to challenge the older ladies lol. Poor Duchess wanted some love but being at the bottom of this group, all she could do was circle behind me, grab my shirt and hope I then around to pet her lol. What a bunch of spoiled brats!

Heading off to the swap this morning :) I'm only taking 3 hens, a duckling, a pair of turkeys and my saddles. Hopefully, I come home without any birds!
