A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Could it be a tri colored blue mottled? Whatever...its darn cute! Boy we've had a nice crop of babies so far! Thanks to you all for posting pics! I love it.
Ralphie knows Rusty Slates. @Bantambird 's flock has the genetics to make Rusty Slates.

When they are hatched, you can't just look at a Tri-Color Mottled Slate and see the difference between it and a Blue Slate. That difference comes later.

So there were construction crews working in Nashville the night of the tornadoes. On guy was stuck in a crane 300 feet in the air! He recorded the tornado going by the crane....he was screaming the whole time. Said it takes 15 minutes to get down off the rig & he had only 2 minutes warning. He rode it out. Wow... it was so close to him.

Yep, Ralphie knows Rusty Slates!

Girls came out front again. Blossom yaps, even while eating. No idea how she does that. Hope she doesn't choke! When I went out to take them for a stroll....Daisy was standing by the gate waiting, but the teenagers were in the depths of the backyard. I called to them & they came running. Flapping & yapping! I'm loving this! They are pretty consistent about running to me. They are really catching on to the routine. Smarties!

Here's a question....Annie was a red bourbon and extremely vocal. Blossom is red & won't shut up. Is there something about red hens genetically that makes them more talkative? Rest of the flock doesn't say much. And by the way....one of my dearest friends is a redhead and boy she's a talker! Finding that rather ironic! Don't get me wrong....I enjoy talking to Blossom. She's got a great sense of humor!

Whelp, I took out two more toms today. It was supposed to be three but the wind came up, the temps went down, my back was hurting and I just wussed out. They're in the fridge to dry out, stiffen and unstiffen, then I'll cut them up. Boy are we ever having a mud season. I guess it beats snow, kind of...

Eggs everywhere here. They make great omelets! Coonhound gets one every so often, overeasy, on his food too. Baker friend so happy. Guy contacted me wanting some to make icecream. Neighbor poaching them. Turkey egg season is great! Lots of happy people & one happy coonhound!
Mason chopped his first egg yesterday. 🙄
But to be fair I did gather them in a dog dish 💁

I set them down on the deck to do something turned around and he was sniffing them. I started to say no and then he pulled a daisy and grabbed one and ran 🤣

I have got to quit getting so busy!

I've also got to try to take my mind off my upcoming surgery. My wife was in the hospital for a couple days with RSV Pneumoni, and I've been trying to take care of her, but when it feels like you got your funny bone ten times a minute every day and have no strength it complicates matters.

I haven't been able to go home to see my birds and have my mother taking care of them. I have talked to Athena on the phone once or twice and my daughter did something she called facetime so I could see Athena. That was an interesting experience for this technologically illiterate old man.
