Infectious bronchitis can linger for weeks. So glad she is some better, and you were able to get the testing done. It could be possible that the tests might come back negative, since she is doing better.

Infectious bronchitis can linger for weeks. So glad she is some better, and you were able to get the testing done. It could be possible that the tests might come back negative, since she is doing better.

The test results came back positive for ILT, infectious laryngotracheitis. She is definitely improving, but she’ll always be a carrier. I’m trying to find a local vet who will sell me vaccine I can administer to my whole flock, but avian vets are INSANELY hard to find in Ontario. And Canada. The vet I brought Milkshake to wouldn’t order me vaccine. I think it’s a quantity issue, as in, you have to buy thousands at a time.

Also, ILT is a reportable disease here, so the lab is legally required to notify the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.

What a mess. Let me be a lesson learned for others; keep a closed flock.

Oh, I ‘m sorry that the diagnosis was ILT.The others are already exposed if she was near them I would think. I would close the flock for the life of the birds. There are some strains of ILT that are milder. I don’t think that the vaccine is common for ILT, and so not many give it. Here is a link to read on ILT:
