Aurora, does Adam play too? Everytime mine get let loose they run & flap. If I kick the soccer ball it's game on!
Answer was understood. So do turkeys not carry recessive genes than? If one of the cross babies with the hidden "ng" mated a royal palm would you eventually get somebody with two "ngng" genes?Bummer Memphis!
Enjoy a night out on the town!

did you understand my answer, I think I have it right, it has been over 40 years since I had a college level class on genetics but I think I have it right, recalling a Pundit square.
There is no recessive to worry about, the ngng does not exist in the sweetgrass so it cannot be passed on.
All the genes in a sweetgrass and royal palm are recessive, the toms of a cross would be : b1b1 cgcg ng/N and the hens are regular sweetgrass. If you crossed the hybrid tom to a royal palm you would get pure royals and pure sweetgrass hens but the tom sweetgrass will be like their father: b1b1 cgcg ng/NAnswer was understood. So than what determines what genes are dominant and which ones are recessive? All the genes in a sweetgrass and royal palm are recessive, the toms of a cross would be : b1b1 cgcg ng/N and the hens are regular sweetgrass.
