I am in NC. I've learned since that Sweetgrass are hard to find here. Never saw one while I was looking for my tom, accidentally bought one, and haven't seen one since. I've looked several places. If I find a hen though, I'm snatching her up! I'm downsizing on mchickens and am hoping to go a bit into turkeys :-D
Sorry about Cleo!![]()
Oh, okay! Thanks! RP are pretty easy to find around here, and I really like them (Which is why I was getting the RP tom who ended up as a sweetgrassSweetgrass have the same genotype as Royal palms except RPs have 2 (recessive) narragansett genes also (which gives them the white), so crossing a sweetgrass with a RP all the babies would look like sweetgrass but the sons would be split to the narragansett so some of their daughters (if bred to a sweetgrass) would be RP.
Sorry if this is confusing, but to simplify if you get RP hens for him the babies would look like Sweetgrass.![]()
Chaos ...I'm learning a ton about turkey genetics too! It's way cool. So does this mean you will be adding another tom & breeding pen?
