How will you tell newly hatched hens from Toms, sometimes we don’t know for 5-6 months.
Problem is that you cannot buy sexed poults.
Yeah, I’ll bet you put him up to that!Long story short, JJ followed her everywhere and bred her boots often.

Obviously Ralphie is proud of JJ if he posted it in two threads! It is in this thread and also possibly in the Surviving Minnesota thread.
You can buy sexed juveniles. You can tame a turkey that is older. Memphis got both of her hens as adults and turned them into lappers.I guess the answer is I don’t need turkeys then.
Would I purchase them after they are old enough to tell the sex? And then would a Tom be okay to have if he had not imprinted on me?
Why is it that turkeys cannot be sexed when all other large fowl can be?
Knowing turkeys I am sure that JJ did not need any encouragement.Yeah, I’ll bet you put him up to that!![]()
None at all.Knowing turkeys I am sure that JJ did not need any encouragement.
An extreme rarity. All of the problem toms that I have had to deal with were imprinted by someone else. Now c'mon it's not all that terrible to have an imprinted tom... Romeo is the sweetest guy ever!
