A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

I did some googling.

Interesting story at the end. Sounds like what the Montanian said about her Grandmas.

While it would be fun to have one (coyote not coydog) I am not sure how wise it would be. I would be fearful of grandkids or visitors being bit by one.

They seem easily frightened and shy, I have found shy scared dogs bite almost as often as rotten little ankle biters. I love dogs and enjoy training them, but I have no time for ankle biters (small dogs). They all have Napoleon complexes.

Of course, I don’t care for most aggressive dogs either, but that is not the dogs fault it is usually the fault of the bellybuttons that own them and there lack of ability or desire to train them.

I remember way back to my DEA time, there was a dealer who had a mean pit bull. My first meeting with him (the dog) did not go well. But I knew I had to get the dog to like me.

I would stop by a few times a week to pick up product. I brought some beer for the dealer, and chocolate for his dog. Yep, I know about dogs and chocolate. But a few pieces of chocolate and a few kind words and and we were best buddies.

Just before the dealer was arrested I was sitting in his home and using the dog as a foot rest. The dealer was introducing me to a larger dealer and the larger dealer was leery of me.

The dogs owner told him “look at “Fido” (I forgot the dogs real name) he trusts him ( me), and you know how he reacts around cops. You can trust him too, I do,”

Neither should have trusted me.

Long story, but @Molpet i want to hear more about your coyote..

He’s cute, I want one. I would train it to be a Judas Coyote and lure the other coyotes to their demise.

How domesticated did it become? What happened to the rest of the litter? Was it trainable ?
It was a house pet and slept in my waterbed. one day I came home and found him jumping at water dripping out of the frame. 20 some bites in the mattress through the sheets. Waterbed was in the basement...After that he went out in a pen when I left the house.
He would pee down the basement floor drain in the middle of the night....
But he freaked when on a lead. when taking him in or out of the house he let loose.
At about a year old he bit my boyfriend when he put his arm around me on the couch. The boyfriend had taken care of him when he was a few months old when I went out of town, so I was surprised. After that the boyfriend was afraid of him for some reason.
When he was almost 2, I woke up with him standing over me staring...it was during breeding season...so he was in the pen after that ... He kept acting weird all day until breeding season was over.
August my parents came for a month, they were worried he was going to attack me, and somehow he got out of the pen and was never seen again 😱
I assume my dad took care of the problem child. I didn't ask but there was no way to get out of the pen that was in a fenced yard. He could have jumped the yard fence but the pen had a fence roof and everything was intact.

Thanks!

He did look a bit terrified in the photo of him on a leash.

At least it kept the boyfriend at bay from those advances. As a father I would pay good money for him. (Well, until my daughter got married anyways).

How old was he when you got him? Do you think that had anything to do with his behavior. Sounds like he bonded to you. The photo of the dog and him shows he bonded to him.

I am guessing you weren’t interested in being the mother to a modern day “Romulus and Remus” when you spurned his romance?

I think a day or two old. They still had the umbilical cord, which started falling off the next day. I was too busy keeping them clean to think about pictures before they started walking around. The others died when they started convulsions, about a week old. I double bucket drowned them.

Yes he was bonded, I sure that was one of the issues... along with being a non domesticated canine.
Definitely not a dog, didn't care to please me. I swear he thought it was great fun to make me mad.

OH I of course named him Wild. E. ..... which ended up being Willie

Chicken was a good girl, once she decided to accept you. I didn't see her bite anyone, but the ranch has very few visitors. Chicken had a little den she made under the desk where she would usually go if she wanted to be away from people. She had that silly heeler grin when she was happy.
I never knew her when she was young. She was older than me.
