A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Mine did fine out on their roosts when it was -40°F.

The oldest turkeys I have lost were both 11 years old and were taken by predators. My current oldest one is a bearded Blue Slate hen. She is probably 7.
Yes, I also have a few older birds than she was. 1 tom and 2 hens one of those two was her mother that are 1 year older than her + 1 of her sisters that are doing fine. Not really sure what was going on with her other than they all can't live forever.

Merry Christmas, everyone!

Soup roasted up real nice.

You can make soup with the leftovers.
Yup! That’s why he got that name. I like turkey noodle soup far more than I like regular turkey meat! 🤗

My 2 new Bourbon Red hens that I got yesterday are named Cake and Eat-it. (In kindergarten I had a gerbil that for whatever reason I named Eat-it.) But this way I figure I can have my cake and eat it too!

Merry Christmas everyone...a bit late but we've been all over and super busy. We'll have a semi normal routine today which will be a relief but I have to drag the kids out of bed and cart them off to swim practice. Tomorrow is DD's 16th birthday so DH is taking a vacation day and immediately after swim, he's taking her to get her driver's permit. Then of course, she's going to have about 3 friends come over and spend the night. They're having an ice cream party so I need to find all sorts of toppings and goodies for that. Then, over the next 2 days we'll be trying to get things cleaned up and all the Christmas stuff put away before the 31st for new years eve. Is it terrible that I'm hoping nobody comes over? Lol. We'll have cheese cubes and crackers, sweet and sour summer sausage, and I think DD wants to make a cheese ball. Then of course, we'll have our annual New Year's Eve family Monopoly game :) So still, very busy around here lol.

To keep it turkey... my two oldest will be 8 next spring, Pebbles and Sweet Pea. Both girls are still doing well. Pebbles is still the bossy brat she's always been, very particular and in control. Sweet Pea is showing her age a little bit. Every now and then she'll get a little limp for a while. I'm not sure what that's all about, if it's arthritis or what but she's still doing good. Romeo is still boss of the flock with Phil as his number two but two year old Rusty has been trying to advance his rank here and there. So far, he's not getting anywhere lol.

If I don't get a chance to pop back in, everyone have a happy new year!
