A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Ralph - we should figure out how to trade a BR tom for a blue hen :) My boys are really sweet, they would sit and talk with your DW, and they are totally trained not to sit on decks :gig

Wow, my internal clock says it's dinner time and everyone here is heading for bed - I guess I'll catch up on BYC reading :) DH says my egg is cheeping like crazy, so it hasn't died yet. It was talking to me this morning as I was trying to get out the door. I have totally forgotten what it's like to live in frigid temps - dang this is cold - I was reminded what ears freezing feels like lol. January is not the time to travel to places that experience "winter".

Sorry your freezing Feisty. How long will you be there. Glad to hear the chicken is still peeping. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Have u thought of making a pip whole?? If u candle and find where the beak is and made a pip it wouldn't hurt. It would probably help some if it weak from the cold still. U would just have to keep it moist so it doesnt shrink wrap. Youtube how to do it if interested.

Tickets currently to head for home on Saturday, but may change depending on what needs to be done here (or degree of frostbite I have achieved).

I really have my fingers crossed for the little peeper hatching, it would be so awesome to come home to a baby feather butt. But alas - my shoebox incubator is probably not swinging the odds in her favor. Not convinced that DH is watching the egg, but will have to hope that he's paying attention and making sure it doesn't freeze or bake

Baby pipped a tiny flake of the shell this morning, so I poked a little hole to make sure that it had air. DH said it had lots of movement and cheeping tonight - so I hope it hatches. I put damp paper towels in with it, and reminded DH to re-moisten them tonight. Hoping that will be enough to keep some humidity in there. I'll check in with DH later and see if he can make the pip hole a little bigger to help.

Here is Mabel

Can anyone tell what breed she is, or how old? Her toenails are super sharp, found that out. Maintenance guy put her in rabbit hutch BC she wouldn't go into igloo despite downpour. Planning a roofed but airy house for her inside the run.
