A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Ug...sleet...

So Ralph...do you have all your breeding pen complete now? When are you separating them into pairs/trios /quads.

Maybe Dheltzel will post pics of those mottled....hoping!

So I guess I should come up a plan on how to deal with broody turkey hens. Maybe they will skip going broody....or am I deluding myself?

You're delusional regardless of your turkeys behavior

OK Dheltzel....your not off the hook! Take pictures of those baby poults! Your holding out on us! Would love to see pics of your mottled turkeys. Ralph posted several of his toms on Porters genetic Facebook page and he identified some of the more unusual colors. He might be able to confirm if it's a silver dappled mottled.

Pic of the possible mother and/or grantmothers, these are clearly mottled blacks.

These are some of what I got crossing the 3 above with a royal palm tom:

The phenotype looks silver dappled, but I can't figure out how they got a white gene, that is partially dominant over the grey (cg) and should have showed in either the mottled black hens or royal palm tom they had as parents. Some of their siblings are clearly pure black mottled and royal palm, the expected results from the cross.
