Have any of u ever trimmed spurs on a tom? Mr. T's spur r SHARP! How do they grind them down at the ends so tgat they r like blades!?
I have removed spurs from roos and regret it. I will not remove spurs again its so simple but its their protection. I just want to file the edge of so they dont hurt hens. I clip his nails so it cant be that hard.
I started my fertility "test" today. I only put five eggs in the bator though... I took three out of the frisge cuz those eggs I really liked... I only incubate brown eggs that make the cut for beauty... I dont like small eggs, light brown eggs or ones with weird bumps. I incubate lots of speckled eggs, almost purple colored ones from the NHR hen, blue and green ones and big ones. I get picky... In the pen last year I kept hens in there for a week to see the eggs from them... I made lots of swapping...
I don't remove spurs from roosters or turkeys. If your tom will stand for it there is nothing wrong with filing the points off. Coarse sandpaper (80 grit) should work fine.
