A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

First batch of turkey eggs all doing good. 1 has me thinking it's gone.

In this first batch had 3 that had been in fridge for a week or so no turning just when door got opened.

All doing well.

Set 10 more turkey tonight.

Put 7 welsummer eggs on lockdown for easter hal.

Ralph - You'll have lots of fun with a single poult - Feedman's advice sounds about right :p. I can't believe you got another incubator. You and Aurora are populating the poultry world :)

Feedman - looking forward to pics of the upcoming hatches.....chicks and poults :D

I'm totally envious of you all with the babies - but haven't got a new building yet (still working on DH). Besides, I really don't need any more egg producers lol. I am giving away so many eggs now, and I don't have that many birds! I think that I've managed to convince Blondie that she's not broody anymore, but my Cochin is still looking determined. I've got a broody-breaker ready to go this weekend if she hasn't given up by then. Crossing my fingers that no one else gets the bug after these two get over it. And I hope the turkeys don't get any brilliant ideas from the broody chickens

Ohh I have a question is it legal to have a pet turkey in california? Los angeles. Hmm I really want one. Does the male turkey crowl like a rooster?

Yellowblack...turkey toms dont crow, they gobble.

Ralph...aww...your SS sound really sweet. They do like attention. They are still my favorite breed. AND the first poult of the year!!!! Feedman is right! Hard to resist a baby turkey!

Hello everyone! Mr. T is still here. He might stay... Idk... He is being so good lately. Although Zeus is scared of him and the other rooster chases Zeus into the woodpile. After Zeus left for two days Bubba thinks hes quite the stud. So now Zeus is sleeping in a lean-too that has calving pens set up in it. He will have to get used to the birds from the other side of the fence.

You will have to check your local ordinances to find out. California does tend to have stricter laws than some other places. Try checking in the Local Chicken Laws & Ordinances forum for applicable threads or even post your question there.

Another thing to think about is that turkeys are a very social flock bird and really don't do well alone.
