Well...I'm sitting on the bank of the mighty Mississippi in Ste. Genevieve right now. The one bennifit of having a house in a town on the National Register is the Corp. Of Engineers really monitors this levy. We had a scare this winter. But the new levy held like a champ. Have you finished your renovation after the fire? This house was built in 1820....I'm in renovation hell.

Miss my turkey hens. They would love hunting bugs up here. My sister keeps telling me to bring them up with me. Poor girls would be so confused. ...

Unless I figure out what got some of the palm poults.

Didn't have phone when new bourbons were out. By the time I got phone they were back under mommas.

They are calling for the river to get out possibly. So there might be a possibility I'll have move all my birds to the hills.

We live in a house build in 1890, but added too several times. We have remodeled ( well, are in the process of and will be for 40 years) but trying to keep the flavor of an old farm house while making it energy efficient and safe to live in. I love old houses!

You know Ralph...Daisy had such a good time at the birthday party she probably would love a road trip. Honestly they are so laid back...hmm

I'll get some pics of my old house. Love the old girl. Love working on her. She's log & timber frame. She's 3 hours from Memphis & 45 minutes from my sister in St. Louis. Close enough but far enough...if ya know eat I mean! She was used by the Union army as an "aid station" during the Civil War. The first time I saw her was about 15 years ago. I slammed the brakes on the van & just sat there staring at her. Had a viseral reaction to the house for some reason. Heard she was going on the market 4 years ago. Literally walked up & wrote the guy a check that day. I love this place. I'm figuring I would slowly renovate while working then retire here. Closer to the family. Renovating went quicker and smoother than expected. Spending most of my time developing gardens. Just loving it.

Yesterday, I finally started planting garden. Ethel Jr and the other hen helped me....


They were sampling the cauliflower and broccoli as soon as I got the in the ground. I had to yell at them several times to leave it alone. They finally left.

I forget every spring at planting time how much they love a garden. They seem to think it is their own personal salad bar.

Hey! Long time to turkey talk! I still haven't found Griffin a hen, but found some sweetgrass, royal palm, and silver auburn chicks nearby that I'm hoping to get so he can have some hens next spring. Any body here got silver auburn? I haven't seen one, but their breeder says they're pretty
