When I had to break Pebbles, I just kept throwing her or of the nest. She just ran right back to it once I was gone. I gave her a couple poults for a few days to raise. I left her keep them until she left the nest and took them outside for a couple days. Then I took them away and let her hang out near the brooder off and on for a few days. Then she finally snapped out of it. It was rather complicated to break her but she was getting so skinny she was scaring me. It was worth it. I would definitely say that turkeys are so much harder to break than chickens lol

I have even locked her out of her nest for 24 hours but as soon as she sees her nest is open she heads in when she was starting to go broody and still laying my dad told me to just let her hatch them but I don't want any more turkeys right now. Thanks i will try and do something but the baby turkeys are getting older she wants nothing to do with them so that's out of the question. Um I hi k I can just keep her off the nest for a few days straight and see what she does thank you

I sympathize, I have a broody turkey (Coco) who I have been trying to break. If you find something that works - please share - I'd love to know how to get her back to normal!

I haven't had any problems breaking broody turkey hens. But I haven't been trying to break any unless they have already been on the nest long enough to hatch. I remove the nest area and kick them out of the pen for a couple of days and that usually does it.

We got the fencing up. It doesn't cover anywhere near as much as I thought it would but they still can get out. They're very confused about the fence and can't comprehend why they can't go to the rest of the yard like they could before lol. I did let all the mottled and RP babies out of their containment area though and they came outside for the first time ever. They're confused but excited and are flapping and flying around. A couple of the upping boys are strutting around now too :) my memory card is full or id be taking pictures. I'll get some eventually. Hubby said maybe we'll get one more section of fencing to make the run a little bit bigger for them but for now, it'll work.

I have a new set of turkey mommas.

My bourbons have started hatching.

I got outta the pen that was flipped over he is in the incubator for the time being.

Saw 6 more poults thar came out for a visit. The mommas are still sitting tight. So have some babies to catch.

Bourbons were all I was gonna keep over out of hatches.

But I have one in the brooder that is getting Sweetgrass coloration so it might stay as well.

Aurora...bet those babies had a blast trying out their wing! I'm sure that was fun to watch.

Glad to hear the Bourbon are hatching. I remember you wanted to keep them. The potential Sweet grass sounds interesting. Post some pics! :D. Will you let the momas raise them?

Probably won't let them raise them all.

Unless I figure out what got some of the palm poults.

Didn't have phone when new bourbons were out. By the time I got phone they were back under mommas.

They are calling for the river to get out possibly. So there might be a possibility I'll have move all my birds to the hills.
