one palm poult. About to leave indoor brooder to the outside world.

Some that are in a brooder. Chickens and turkeys both.

With exception of bourbon babies everything else is headed to sales this weekend.

I have a chance to get some jmf meat quail. Haven't had quail before. Anyone here raised any?

If nothing happens to it I should have another broody momma hatching within a day or 2.

This year's tom The Speckled Sussex are really growing. Oops I swapped them for Bourbon Red poults. Sweetgrass poults Oops not a turkey
Nice looking tom and babies. We're these from porters? You thinning down the blues? Or Just trying some other colors for awhile?

Has anyone else had trouble with a turkey in aggression torwards the chickens she about killed my sisters chicken hen so I have had her locked into her dog cage to keep her from the chickens now she has been after the other chickens to. But if didn't know she was going to do that I wouldn't have trimed the tips off of my roosters Spurs. He has been flogging her like crazy to get her off of his hens.

R2elk Love the grey tom, so pretty.

Did I miss what happened to the fawn? I'll have to look through everything I missed. It's been kinda crazy. I had to euthanize my 19 year old aussie. It was the day before my birthday. A few days later we decided we needed someone since my old pitbul who's 12 was really sad. So we got a roughly 9 year old 86 lb mutt named Slim from the animal control for him. Really sweet guy.

Knothead is still growing like a weed. I swear he changes in looks daily.

We've had some issues with him trying to do things the chickens do, like fly through open doors. His wing span is too big and broke 2 blood feathers. It was a mess of blood and we had to use needlenose pliers to yank out the broken ones. That happened two days in a row. Knock on wood, the last 2 days we haven't had an incident. I'm hoping he figures out that he's not a chicken.

How old is the turkey? I only have Knothead and he's young. So far he loves the chickens, I think he believes he's one. He is terrified of our head hen though, she's a small polish. The rest he's tight with. We are in the process of building a run for him though just in case there is any friction.

Knothead is looking good. Glad you adopted from animal control. Sorry about the dog you had to put down. Hope the 2 bond and your old pit bull is happier. If i remember the fawn didn't make it.

My biggest agressors toward my chickens seem to be my hens. They truly do rule the so to speak.

That's too bad about the fawn.

The dog boys are seeming tight, perhaps tighter than Lump was with his buddy howard who he had known for over 10 years. Our animal control here are awesome folks. They work hard to find homes for their dogs.

Knothead is awesome. Hope he stays happy as part of a chicken flock. I really want to live somewhere where I can have more.

Thank you.

Yes the Sweetgrass eggs were from Porter's. They were very well packed and shipped by FedEx. There were no damaged air cells in any of the eggs. I have the additional problem of hatching at altitude (1 mile high) so I was tickled pink to end up with 5 poults.

Can't thin down the blues but we all know that breeding a Bourbon Red hen with a Self Blue tom will produce 100% Rusty Slates. Breeding a Sweetgrass hen with a Self Blue tom will produce 100% Tri-color Mottled Slates. Rusty Slates crossed with each other can produce up to 27 different color varieties. The same with Tri-color Mottled Slates mated to each other can produce up to 27 different color varieties. Two of those varieties are the Cornish Palm and the awesome Blue Sweetgrass.
